  • Demo: CS Education in Washington Demographic Drilldown 2019-24

This dashboard can also be found on Tableau Public.

This dashboard explores CS education growth and distribution in Washington from the perspective of overall CS enrollments, gender, race/ethnicity, income, ELL status, disabiliity status, and grade level.

Further, one can drill down to see details for all the districts in an ESD or all the schools in a district by clicking on the grids in the dashboard. Click on the blue triangle in the top right corner to scope back up.

With this visualization, one can better understand how computer science education has grown through Washington’s public schools during the five school years from 2019-2024. The primary data source for this dashboard is the  2023-24 K–12 Computer Science Education Data Summary Report that was published in late June 2025.

With this and related visualizations and PDFs, it is hoped that educational leaders at the state, ESD, district, and school level can better understand the strengths and weaknesses and make better decisons regarding CS education in their organizations.

  • How to Join CSTA Washington

Your membership is critical to help CSTA and CSTA Washington build a vibrant community of K-12 computer science educators.

We hope you have been continuing to receive the emails from CSTA after the changes instituted by the national organization earlier this year. However, receiving those emails does not mean you’re a current member of the organization or CSTA Washington. There are many more benefits you can receive if you are a full member, as opposed to just on CSTA’s free-tier email list. These include free or discounted access to the CSTA Conference, professional development, webinars, networking events, and CSTA-developed and partner resources.  However, even more than the above, you can become a member of our local chapter: CSTA Washington, and other affinity groups.

To receive all these benefits from CSTA national, you need to pay an annual membership fee of $50.   This fee is lower than any other professional organization for educators and there are often discounts.

Once you become a paid member of CSTA national, membership in CSTA Washington (and any other CSTA Chapter or Affinity Group) is free.   Many CS educators who reside in Washington state sign up for CSTA national but never sign up to be a member of CSTA Washington.   Unless you sign up to be a member of CSTA Washington, we do not know who you are and can’t inform you of computer science education opportunities in your local area.

If you have any issues joining CSTA or CSTA Washington (including the price), please contact washington@csteachers.org

The following video shows how to join CSTA and CSTA Washington:

    Traditional instructions are below:

    • Click “Join CSTA” and complete the payment process. Enter a discount code (e.g., LEGACYMEMBERCAMPAIGN25) if one is provided to lower your membership cost.
    • To confirm that you are a member of CSTA Washington, do the following:
      • Click on “My Account” after you have logged into csteachers.org
