Representing in St. Louis – SIGCSE 2026

A few CSTA Washington members made it to the “Gateway to the West” for SIGCSE TS 2026 conference. While the weather fluctuated 45 degrees (it was 70 when we arrived and in the 20s by the time we left), the commitment to CS Education has not.

For instance, Amy Ko had a fantastic opening keynote on Love and Learning – which she posted about in her summery on her blog “Bits and Behavior”. She also shared the YouTube video of her rehearsal version which also has captions. The other keynotes included a panel on Friday on “The Future of CS Education” with Richard Ladner from the University of Washington and Payul Tyman with Mark Sheriff moderating, and the closing keynote from Titus Winters, which gave me a lot to think about.

And while we didn’t have a coordinated “CSTA WA at SIGCSE” meetup like we have the last couple of years, we did have a lot of very enjoyable conversations in the “hallway track” and at the Thursday night reception (which was one of the better receptions in recent memories). Oh, and I was able to give away about 50 of our new yellow with green writing ducks – so CSTA Washington can represent from around the US now :).
