Celebrating Washington’s 2026 CTSO Finalists in CS

Below is a report on the schools and students from Washington that have qualified for national competitions in computer science, cybersecurity, and information technology related categories across the eight major CTSOs (Career and Technical Student Organizations)
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)

FBLA provides several categories, including Coding and Programming, Computer Game and Simulation Programming, Cybersecurity, Data Science and AI, Mobile Application Development, Network Design, and Website Coding and Development, for students interested in computer science to compete in.
TSA (Technology Student Association)

TSA has several categories, including Coding, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Webmaster, Data Science and Analytics, and CAD/Engineering, for students interested in computer science to compete in.
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America)
Qualifiers in the Health Informatics category were as follows:
- 1st Place: Amaira Arora — Tahoma High School (Tahoma SD)
- 2nd Place: Ananya Sharma — Eastlake High School (Lake Washington SD)
- 3rd Place: Ankita Datta — Eastlake High School (Lake Washington SD)

FFA (Future Farmers of America)
At the 96th Washington FFA Convention and Expo on May 14-16 in Pullman, WA, the top students in the Agriculture Technology and Mechanical Systems event were: Caleb Betha (Sedro-Wooley), Finn Ridd (Naches Valley), and Gavin Nickelson (Burlington). The top schools were: Sedro-Wooley, Lynden, and Stanwood.
FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America)
National Qualifiers from Washington in FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events are as follows:
- Digital Stories for Change Level 2
- Lind Ritzville HS (Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools) -Wednesday CNewport HS (Bellevue SD) – FCCLA, WA – Adela H, Alexis L, & Amaya D
- Sumner HS (Sumner-Bonney Lake SD) – Daniel W & Makayl S
- Instructional Video Design Level 1
- Mcloughlin MS (Pasco SD) – Harmony K
- RED Talks on Education Level 2 :
- Lind Ritzville HS (Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools) – Zachary C
Skills USA
SkillsUSA have several categories – Computer Programming, Cybersecurity, Information Technology Services, Web Design and Development, Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Home, Interactive Application and Video Game Development, Mobile Robotics Technology, 3D Visualization and Animation – that are of interest.
However, Skills USA and Skills USA Washington do not publicly release the names of students qualifying for national events. We will update this post if we receive further information from school/district news releases.
DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America)
DECA has the Information Technology Services (ITS) and Business Information Management (BIM) categories for participation.
