FUTURE II Professional Development for CS on June 13

Bellevue College and CSTA Washington are teaming up again this year to present FUTURE – a professional development event for educators teaching CS-related courses or wanting to integrate CS concepts into existing courses. This year’s FUTURE conference will be geared towards educators of all grade levels. Elementary teachers on up are encouraged to join. Please bring your laptop for the best experience.

Event Date: June 13, 2026, Saturday
Event Time: 8:30am – 3:00pm
Event Location: Bellevue College, Main Campus, N-Building (map)

Washington educators who attend the start of the event (9:00 am) through the morning workshops (12:30 pm) are eligible for 3 free STEM clock hours. Those who attend the start of the event (9:00 am) through the afternoon workshops (3:00 pm) are eligible for 4 free STEM clock hours.

Event Recap (June 20)

FUTURE II Panel Discussion

On June 13, CSTA Washington joined Bellevue College in hosting over 50 educators for FUTURE II (Foundations for Understanding Technology Uniting Resources for Educators) – a professional development event for educators teaching CS-related courses or integrating CS concepts into existing courses. Attendees were eligible to receive up to 4 Washington STEM clock hours.

At the joint session, CSTA Washington VP Communications Jacqueline Russell moderated an all-star panel to discuss Coding for Community: Small Solutions, Big Impact. Panelists included: CSTAWA Secretary Melissa Cook (Kent SD) joined Tannu Jiwnani (Microsoft), Khaja Ahmed (Bellevue College), Kendrick (Ken) Hang (SBCTC), Venera Arnaoudova (WSU), and Crystal Hess (Shoreline). CSTAWA President Michelle Laskowski gave an overview of CSTA Washington in “Empowering Every Teacher, Reaching Every Student”

Along with Professor Alfred Nehme of Bellevue College, CSTAWA Puget Sound VP Denise Thompson co-hosted the most popular AI Workshop in one of the morning breakouts.

FUTURE II participants enjoyed both breakfast and lunch and received a CSTA Washington rubber duck in a gift bag full of Bellevue College SWAG. The gift bag also included a USB drive with presentation and other resources from all of the workshops.
