Member Spotlight: Erin Murphy

Erin Murphy is the Computer Science teacher at Starbuck School (student population 31). Starbuck is a TK-8 school in rural Southeastern Washington. Erin also teaches 1st and 2nd grade, along with Music.
Erin’s CS journey started in 2022 after she got her Master’s in Teaching. Her principal saw a gap that needed to be filled. Erin participated in the summer pilot program from ESD 112 for the Elementary Computer Science Endorsement, then started teaching CS that fall.
Since then, all students at Starbuck School receive computer science education.
Erin is the 2025-2026 CSTA Washington Vice-President of the Southern ESDs (123, 105, 112). She is always looking for ways to improve her teaching of CS, and strives to ensure that all students have access to computer science, no matter where they are, or what school they attend.
